Dalmally Golf Club Silver Jubilee 2012

QUESTION 1 Hole 1

At the par 3 first hole, a golfer hits a nice tee shot which unfortunately lands in the greenside bunker.
To the amazement of his partners, he immediately tees another ball up, declaring his ball 'unplayable.'
This despite the ball being clearly visible and in a good looking place in the bunker.

Is he . . . . . CORRECT  or WRONG  ?

QUESTION 2 Hole 2

An approach shot lands nicely in the centre of the green. On walking onto the green and marking her ball, the player remembers that she is playing a budget distance ball. She would rather putt with a softer feeling ball. However she thinks that she cannot change the ball even although she is allowed to mark and pick it up on the green, so she carries on and putts out using the budget ball.

Is she . . . . . CORRECT  or WRONG  ?

QUESTION 3 Hole 3

Confused with the new tees, players in a club competition realise when they get to the 12th green that they have forgotten to play from the new tee and played from the third tee again by mistake. Both players agree not to count the wrongly played tee shots and replay the hole. With nothing more said, off they go back to the correct tee.

Are they . . . . . CORRECT  or WRONG  ?

QUESTION 4 Hole 5

A player's tee shot lands in a worn area of ground to the right of the green, which has faint evidence of a machine having been there. Two of her partners encourage her to take a free drop on better ground because it looks as if a tractor has been there. The player disagrees and instead decides to play the ball as it lies.

Was she . . . . . CORRECT to disagree  or were her PARTNERS correct   ?

QUESTION 5 Hole 8

A drive from the gents white tee veers right and disappears into the trees that guard the burn across the fairway. The sound of a ball hitting one of the trees on either side of the burn can be heard; it sounds as if it may have dropped into the burn. The ball however can't be found, either in the burn or around the trees in the rough at the side of the burn. After discussion with his partners, the player then drops another ball on a line from the hole to the point at which the ball appeared to disappear, behind the burn under a one stroke penalty.

Is he . . . . . CORRECT  or WRONG  ?

QUESTION 6 Hole 9

On a wet day, a player addresses her ball, which is plugged in the rough. At first no water appears, but on pushing down a bit further, water starts to appear and eventually the extra pressure leads to water covering her toes. Her partners agree that she can take relief under the casual water rule.

Were they . . . . . CORRECT  or WRONG  ?
